Today is Day 6 of the Idea Machine Project, following along with Claudia Altucher’s new book, Become an Idea Machine.

Today’s topic: 10 things I could do to make my personal air travel easier.

Air travel is a huge headache, so I should definitely make the effort to implement at least some of these ideas.

1. Take the time now to configure my password software across all my devices so that I don’t feel the need to always travel with my laptop. My first effort at this resulted in a bit of a headache, so I just stopped using the password login app on my iPad. Not sure if it was user-error on my part or something in the configuration/software settings but I haven’t bothered to mess with it again.

2. Come up with new food/snack ideas beyond nuts. Perhaps make and freeze gluten-free granola to snack on the plane.

3. Buy a new backpack that is well-suited to air travel.

4. If I don’t buy a new backpack, take time to clean out my current daypack and replenish the various supplies like band-aids and tea bags that I keep in the pockets.

5. Buy noise-canceling headphones.

6. Renew passport.

7. Better organize all the apps on my phone into folders and tabs.

8. Stop by Verizon office to resolve issues with cellular data card on iPad.

9. Organize or tag my address book and social media contacts so that I can quickly search by city to see who I might know in places where I’m traveling.

10. Create spreadsheet of hotels I’ve stayed in that I like, in places I might revisit, to make it faster to check hotels when booking on Priceline.
