Bama and I left Birmingham shortly after 9 a.m., Wednesday, August 3. She was resting comfortably on a rug in the back area of my Explorer. I woke up around 2 and couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up at 3 a.m. and made coffee. Bama had started to stir a bit. I could tell she was uncomfortable. I sat by her side, talked with her, stroked her head. A few times, she put her head in my lap. Bumble slept nearby. I gave Bama four sedative tablets at 5:30 a.m., August 3. It is 5:45 pm, Tuesday, August 2, 2011. My heart is broken. It's the end of the line for my Bama. I thought we were at this point in late February but--on the eve of our vet appointment for euthanasia--she made a miraculous turnaround. This time, it's for certain and it's for real.
