I can’t be at SXSW, but I’m thrilled to help spread the word about The Bluebonnets, a straight-up rock and roll band with a bluesy foundation. The Bluebonnets feature Kathy Valentine on lead guitar, with amazing vocals and bass by Dominique Davalos. Eve Monsees is rhythm guitarist. Update: The new lineup includes Michelle Schreiber on drums. KV describes her as “freakin fantastic.”

“Rumor” has it that we may get a teaser clip from The Bluebonnets on CouchbyCouchwest.com

And (while I was creating this post) Kathy Valentine tweeted a teaser about a “big announcement” today (March 8, 2012) at 10 a.m. PST. I’ll update when I know more.

For those who aren’t familiar with The Bluebonnets, here are some tunes, via Reverb Nation’s music player. And another video clip from the Austin show is below the posters.

Here are promo posters for the unofficial SXSW parties and events where you can catch The Bluebonnets next week:

I was lucky enough to see a couple of shows by The Bluebonnets in late July 2010, when I stopped off in Austin during a drive to Colorado. Several videos from the July 2010 shows at the Continental Club and Antones are available on YouTube on the reerocks channel. Here’s another:
